Landscaping advertising

Google Ads for landscapers that sell the big install.

A homeowner shopping for weekly mowing and someone planning a retaining wall need different estimates, crews and schedules. Your ads should send each person to the service they need, without letting mowing inquiries eat the budget meant for installation work.

Short version: Run Google Ads for landscapers with mowing, installation and repair searches kept apart. Retaining wall installation reaches $20.00 at the top of Google's Keyword Planner bid range below, so a wall estimate should not compete with a weekly mowing inquiry. Track which lawn care calls become booked customers, then use those bookings to guide spending by service.

What landscaping and lawn care clicks cost on Google

Google's Keyword Planner shows different bidding pressure for routine lawn work, repair calls and landscape projects:

SearchMonthly US searchesTop-of-page bid range
retaining wall installation1,900$2.67 to $20.00
sod installation8,100$3.81 to $17.34
landscaping near me90,500$3.25 to $15.33
hardscaping27,100$2.49 to $15.00
lawn care service110,000$3.62 to $14.81
irrigation repair3,600$3.51 to $14.66
lawn mowing service33,100$2.93 to $10.00
landscape design33,100$1.81 to $9.12

Retaining wall installation has the smallest search volume here, at 1,900 a month, but the highest upper bid, at $20.00. Landscape design draws 33,100 searches with an upper bid of $9.12, so a project search does not automatically mean a pricier click. We give wall installation its own campaign and judge its estimate requests separately from design consultations.

How we structure a landscaping and lawn care account

  • Mowing gets a route-focused campaign. Lawn care advertising should bring recurring customers in neighborhoods your crews can serve together. We keep mowing inquiries apart from project estimates and narrow the advertised area around your routes.
  • Sod and hardscaping get service-specific ads. A homeowner replacing bare turf needs a sod estimate. Someone planning a patio needs hardscaping details. Each search gets an ad that names the work and leads to that service.
  • Irrigation repair gets its own message. A broken sprinkler needs a repair appointment, not a landscape design consultation. We separate repair calls so you can see their booked cost without mixing them with installation estimates.
  • Commercial grounds work stays separate. Property managers seeking ongoing maintenance need different estimates from homeowners booking a lawn cut. We separate those searches and exclude commercial work if your crews only serve homes.
  • Booked work tells mowing and project leads apart. We trace each lead to its ad and report booked jobs back to Google. Your report shows cost per booked customer, with mowing customers distinguished from sod, wall and design work.

Searches we keep you from paying for

We check lawn and landscape search terms for people seeking employment, materials or advice instead of a crew:

When landscaping and lawn care demand moves

Across these searches, demand peaks in April at 484,000 and bottoms out in December at 167,900, making the peak 2.9x the low month, according to the Keyword Planner pull above. Mowing peaks in April, irrigation repair in July and retaining wall installation in October. Landscape design peaks in March and reaches its low in June, so we do not treat every landscape service as a summer business. We shift budgets toward each service's season and reduce spending as its demand falls; any increase in total spend waits for a person.

Google's rules for landscaping and lawn care

Google lists both "Landscaping services" and "Lawn care services" as available US categories for Local Services Ads. Since August 2026, Google has been moving existing Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals, with this trade in the first phase. Those ads still appear only on Google Search and Maps and remain pay per lead, according to Google's migration guidance.
