Google Ads for moving companies

Moving company ads for local and long distance.

An apartment move across town and a household move across state lines need different crews, schedules and quotes. Your ads should separate those requests before a distant pickup or an impossible move date takes up your estimator's afternoon.

Short version: Run moving advertising with separate campaigns for local moves, long distance hauls and specialty loads. Long distance bids reach $88.22 in the Google Keyword Planner figures below, so a quote request needs more than a phone number. Capture the route, move date and load, then report booked moves back to Google so bidding follows customers who hire your crew.

What moving clicks cost on Google

Google Keyword Planner shows how bids differ between a local moving crew, an interstate haul and help packing boxes:

SearchMonthly US searchesTop-of-page bid range
long distance movers12,100$23.10 to $88.22
commercial movers6,600$13.37 to $57.93
moving company165,000$13.10 to $46.27
moving and storage9,900$10.52 to $42.21

local movers60,500$6.96 to $32.11
packing services4,400$4.64 to $18.58
piano movers12,100$3.69 to $15.33

Source: Google Keyword Planner, United States, pulled November 2026. Bid ranges are what advertisers paid to show at the top of the page.

Long distance movers and piano movers each draw 12,100 monthly searches, but their upper bids are $88.22 and $15.33. A delicate load does not automatically mean the more expensive click. We give piano moving its own campaign when you offer it, with ads about the instrument and access, so it does not compete for budget with interstate quotes.

How we structure a moving account

We build Google Ads for movers around the work your trucks and crews can take:

  • Local moves get a local quote path. Ads lead to questions about pickup, destination, stairs and move date, so an apartment inquiry reaches the estimator with context.
  • Long distance has its own budget. Interstate household moves need route details and load estimates. We keep those quotes separate from short local jobs.
  • Office moves speak to business buyers. Commercial ads address desks, equipment and scheduling around business hours, with a separate path for arranging a walkthrough.
  • Packing and storage stay distinct. Packing help and a move with storage need different quotes. We advertise each only when your crew or facility can deliver it.
  • Urgent ads match crew availability. Last-minute moving ads run when you can take the job. A booked calendar should not keep buying requests for immediate pickups.

Searches we keep you from paying for

We screen moving searches for people hiring a crew, then exclude requests like these:

When moving demand moves

Combined searches peak in January at 661,600 and bottom out in November at 470,000, according to the same Google Keyword Planner pull. But long distance movers peak in November and reach their low in December, while local movers peak in October and bottom out in July. We shift the moving budget by service, reserving room for interstate quotes during their peak instead of cutting every campaign because combined demand falls.

Google's rules for moving companies

  • Moving services are eligible for US Local Services Ads (Google's category list).
  • Since August 2026, Google has been moving existing Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals, with moving in the first phase. They still appear only on Search and Maps and remain pay per lead (Google's migration guidance).
  • Federal rule 49 CFR 375.207 requires household goods carrier advertisements to include the carrier's name and "U.S. DOT No. (assigned number)." This is a federal requirement, separate from Google's rules (federal regulation).
  • Google Ads has no separate verification for movers; moving is absent from its Advanced Verification list (Google's verification guidance).
