Google Ads for plumbers that chase the big jobs.
A clogged kitchen sink and a whole-house repipe need different estimates, crew time and ad budgets. We keep those searches apart so drain calls cannot swallow the money meant for replacement work.
Short version: Run Google Ads for plumbers with emergency calls, drain work and replacement jobs kept apart. Google Keyword Planner's figures below put emergency plumber bids as high as $110.00. Track which calls become booked plumbing jobs, then move the service budgets toward the work your crew can take, whether that means clearing drains or replacing water heaters.
What plumbing clicks cost on Google

| Search | Monthly US searches | Top-of-page bid range |
|---|---|---|
| emergency plumber | 90,500 | $24.42 to $110.00 |
| repipe house | 1,000 | $16.17 to $95.59 |
| plumber near me | 823,000 | $12.22 to $82.33 |
| leak detection | 12,100 | $16.80 to $72.47 |
| sewer line repair | 18,100 | $9.88 to $70.00 |
| water heater replacement | 40,500 | $7.76 to $59.18 |
| drain cleaning | 90,500 | $4.07 to $51.55 |
| tankless water heater installation | 40,500 | $4.35 to $40.22 |

Repiping stands out: just 1,000 monthly searches, yet the upper bid reaches $95.59, above water heater replacement at $59.18 despite its 40,500 searches. That small search pool faces expensive competition. We give repiping its own campaign and budget so its estimate requests stay visible beside the stream of drain calls.
How we structure a plumbing account
- Emergency ads follow your dispatch hours. Burst-pipe and overflowing-toilet ads run when someone can answer and send a plumber. The copy makes after-hours availability clear.
- Drain cleaning stays separate from sewer repair. A sink blockage and a damaged buried line need different equipment and estimates. Each gets ads that name the problem.
- Tankless installation gets its own message. Someone planning an upgrade needs installation information. Someone with a leaking tank needs a replacement visit. We separate those searches and booking paths.
- Leak detection targets diagnosis. Ads explain that the visit locates the leak. A detection appointment and the repair that follows are recorded separately so the report reflects what was booked.
- Residential and commercial calls stay distinct. In plumbing PPC, a restaurant drain problem needs different copy from a homeowner's clogged shower. Commercial searches are excluded if your crew only serves homes.
Searches we keep you from paying for
These searches can spend a plumbing budget without bringing someone who wants to book your crew:
| Kind of search | Example |
|---|---|
| Job seekers | plumber apprentice jobs, plumbing careers |
| Do it yourself | how to snake a shower drain |
| Parts and supplies | water heater anode rod for sale |
| Services you don't offer | septic tank pumping, if you don't provide it |
| Public utility inquiries | city water main break reporting number |
When plumbing demand moves
Combined searches peak in September at 1,576,900 and bottom out in November at 845,080, a 1.9x spread, according to Google Keyword Planner's November 2026 pull. Drain cleaning and water heater replacement peak in October, while tankless installation peaks in January and reaches its low in September. We shift the service budgets toward those peaks and trim them during each service's low months. Sewer line repair gets a summer push around its July peak, with less budget during its January low.
Google's rules for plumbing
- Plumbers are eligible for Local Services Ads in the US, so we can run them alongside Search for plumbing calls. See Google's US category list.
- Since August 2026, Google has been moving existing Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals. Plumbing is in the first phase; these ads still appear only on Search and Maps and remain pay per lead. See Google's migration guidance.
- Google classifies plumbing as an urgent category in Local Services Ads. That means extra screening, including background checks on each service professional. See Google's screening requirements.
- For urgent plumbing repairs with variable pricing, the ad or landing page must clearly disclose call-out charges, emergency hour surcharges and whether estimates are binding. See Google's urgent on-site services policy.
