Locksmith advertising

Google Ads for locksmiths, verification first.

A driver locked out of a car needs someone now, while an office manager arranging a rekey needs a quote and a scheduled visit. Your ads should keep those jobs apart so urgent calls do not swallow the budget for planned work.

Short version: Run Google Ads for locksmiths with separate ads for lockouts, replacement keys and planned lock work. "Lock change" reaches a $28.54 top-of-page bid in Google's Keyword Planner figures below, above "emergency locksmith." Give planned lock work its own budget instead of letting lockout calls take everything. Match each ad to the locks you handle and the hours you can dispatch.

The highest bid belongs to "lock change," with just 2,400 monthly searches and a ceiling of $28.54, compared with $17.30 for "emergency locksmith." Urgency does not automatically mean the fiercest bidding. We give lock changes their own campaign so you can see what those expensive clicks cost per booked job.

How we structure a locksmith account

  • Lockouts follow dispatch hours. Car and house lockout ads run when you can send someone. A stranded driver should reach a locksmith who can take the call and travel to the vehicle.
  • Replacement keys get specific ads. We separate lost-key replacement from vehicle entry and exclude makes or key types you cannot cut or program.
  • Rekeys and lock changes stay distinct. Keeping existing hardware and replacing locks are different requests. Each gets matching wording, with booked job costs reported separately.
  • Commercial work gets its own budget. Office rekeys and business lock repairs should not compete for every dollar with roadside entry. Ads name the commercial services you actually provide.
  • Safe work follows your capabilities. Safe opening and safe lock repair only appear if you handle them. We exclude safe sales and moving searches from a repair campaign.

When locksmith demand moves

Across these searches, July peaks at 752,900 and May bottoms out at 732,200, a fairly flat year in Google's Keyword Planner data. The service mix still shifts: car lockouts peak in December, while rekey searches peak in July and reach their low in January. We shift budget between those services instead of treating summer as a reason to raise every locksmith campaign.

Google's rules for locksmiths

  • US locksmith ads need Advanced Verification before appearing in Search or Local Services Ads. Google handles license checks and a recorded video interview; it typically takes 6 to 8 weeks. While waiting, Google tells applicants to keep words like "emergency" and "lockout" out of their website and keywords. Google's verification guidance.
  • Only locksmith and garage door services require Advanced Verification in the US. Google may request re-verification every 12 months. Google's category rules.
  • Locksmiths get no pre-badge Local Services Ads and move to pay-per-lead Performance Max last, in 2027. Google's transition guidance.
  • Urgent on-site lock work with variable pricing must clearly disclose call-out charges, emergency hour surcharges and whether estimates are binding, in the ad or landing page. Google's pricing disclosure rules.
