Google Ads for roofers who want their own leads.
A homeowner with a ceiling stain needs a leak fixed, while someone replacing an aging roof needs an estimate for a much bigger job. Your roofing budget has to make room for both without letting patch requests swallow the replacement work.
Short version: Run Google Ads for roofers with separate ads for leaks, replacements, and roof materials you install. Google Keyword Planner lists roof replacement bids at $14.41 to $70.74, so patch requests need their own budget. Bring homeowners directly to your roofing business through an account you own, and track which searches become booked roofing jobs.

A roof inspection has the same 33,100 monthly searches as roof replacement, yet its upper bid is higher: $74.62 against $70.74. Paying for an inspection search can cost more than reaching someone already asking for a replacement. We give inspections separate ads and budget so inspection requests cannot drain the money set aside for replacement estimates.
How we structure a roofing account
- Leaks and replacements get different ads. A wet ceiling calls for repair help. An aging shingle roof calls for a replacement estimate, with its own budget.
- Roof materials shape the search list. Metal installation and shingle replacement get specific ads. We exclude material searches for roofs your crews do not install.
- Storm work matches crew availability. Storm damage ads run where you can inspect damaged roofs and take on repairs. We pause them when your roofing schedule fills.
- Residential and commercial requests stay separate. A warehouse roof and a homeowner's shingle roof need different estimates. We exclude commercial searches if you only serve homeowners.
- Booked roofing jobs guide the budget. We trace the roof estimate back to its ad and report booked work to Google. Your report shows cost per booked roofing customer.
Searches we keep you from paying for
We check roofing searches for people seeking a contractor, then exclude terms like these that point to something else:
| Kind of search | Example |
|---|---|
| Job seekers | roofing laborer jobs, roofer apprenticeship |
| DIY | how to patch roof flashing yourself |
| Parts or supplies | roofing nails, shingles for sale |
| Services you may not offer | commercial flat roof repair, if you only do residential |
| Vehicle roofs | rv roof leak repair, camper roof replacement |
When roofing demand moves
Across these searches, demand peaks in September at 482,200 and bottoms out in May at 207,900, according to the same Google Keyword Planner dataset. Roof replacement peaks in October and reaches its low in December, while storm damage roof repair peaks in July and bottoms out in October. We shift the existing roofing budget toward replacement estimates or storm repairs as those searches rise. Any increase in total roofing ad spend waits for a person.
Google's rules for roofing
Roofers are eligible for Local Services Ads in the US, according to Google's category list. Since August 2026, Google has been moving existing Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals, with roofers in the first phase. Those ads still appear only on Search and Maps and remain pay per lead, according to Google's migration guidance.
